Meet Simona, your host

Before becoming a teacher, I began my career in the travel industry, helping people plan and experience journeys that created lasting memories.

Our Story
A close-up photo of an elderly man with white hair and mustache, and a young girl with curly red hair, both smiling. They are sitting outdoors with rustic buildings and fruits like oranges and mangoes visible on a table behind them. The photo is overlaid on a white, torn-edge paper with handwritten text reading "Italy Me & Nonno, Calabria".
View from a balcony showing a lush green hillside with trees and plants leading to a distant coastline and the sea under a clear sky, with red flowers in a planter in the foreground.

From Italy to Australia

As a proud Calabrese Australian, my connection to Calabria runs deep.

My grandfather migrated from Calabria to Australia in the 1950s, and years later my mother travelled to Calabria, where she met my father before he migrated to Australia in the 1980s.

What makes our story even more special is that my grandfather, my father and my husband all come from the same village in Calabria. Growing up, I spent countless summers returning to that village, building lifelong connections to the region and its people.

It was there that I eventually met my husband, continuing a family connection that spans generations

I then spent more than 15 years as an Italian language teacher in New South Wales, sharing my passion for Italy's language, culture, history and traditions with thousands of students.

Through teaching, I learned that the most meaningful learning happens through connection, shared experiences and genuine cultural immersion.

These values now guide every aspect of My Calabria Tours, creating opportunities for travellers to experience Calabria in an authentic and unforgettable way.

Today, My Calabria Tours brings together everything I've loved throughout my career - travel, education, culture and community.

“Travel has always been a huge part of who i am”

My tours are designed to go beyond sightseeing, offering genuine experiences, meaningful connections and the opportunity to discover Calabria through the eyes of someone who has spent a lifetime connected to it.

You arrive as a traveller and leave as family and friends.

I cannot wait to welcome you!
